Wildwood to Host Major Airshow in September 2025
The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Authority has announced "Thunder Over The Waves Airshow" scheduled for September 5-6, 2025. This two-day event fills the void left by Atlantic City's canceled airshow and is expected to attract over 200,000 visitors to the region.
Event organizers say aircraft will launch from Atlantic City International Airport, the FAA Technical Center, and airports in Millville and Cape May. The show will be viewable from Wildwood's beaches and boardwalk, with VIP seating available. Tourism officials anticipate this will bring significant economic benefits to businesses throughout Cape May County.
Tourism Numbers Show Strong Growth in Wildwoods
The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority reports tourism revenues increased by 5% in 2023 compared to 2022's record season, with steady growth continuing into 2025. This represents over $10.5 million in tourism revenue generated in Wildwood island communities.
Louis Belasco, the authority's executive director, attributes this success to strategic marketing initiatives highlighting the Wildwoods' unique characteristics as a family vacation destination, including free beaches and hundreds of annual events.
Ocean City Plans Full Slate of Family Events This Spring
Two major annual events will kick off the April calendar for Ocean City this weekend: the OC CON Comic Book and Memorabilia Festival and Girls Weekend, both expected to draw significant crowds. These events are part of Ocean City's strategy to promote island tourism and keep visitors engaged with free concerts, restaurants, and activities.
Infrastructure Updates in Cape May County
