National Hot Buttered Rum Day

Hot buttered rum is a classic American beverage that dates back to colonial times. As rum became widely available in the American colonies, especially in port cities like those along the Jersey Shore, colonists began incorporating it into various recipes. The addition of butter and spices to rum created a warm, comforting drink that was especially popular during the colder months. This tradition has endured, and hot buttered rum remains a favored wintertime beverage.
